Prototype the human layer
Specs describe what a system does; they can’t tell you what it’s like to live inside it. Fiction lets you think through the human-scale failure modes and possibilities of your technology and system before you’ve built them.
Get unstuck
Writing is a low-friction, high-signal opportunity for groups and individuals to explore and propose ideas they’d never bring to a planning meeting.
Think beyond the roadmap
The horizon of many technologies reaches into the far, far future. Forecasting can give you a number, but fiction gives your team the experience of inhabiting that future. Fiction is a rehearsal space inside the future your work is creating.
Make your work legible to outsiders
The hardest part of technical work is explaining why it matters to people who don’t share your vocabulary and background. Narrative is the oldest tool for translating complex ideas into meaningful communications, and it’s teachable.
Talks
I’ve spoken at conferences, universities, and creative institutes on storytelling, imagination, systems, and the futures we are building—both technologically and culturally. My talks blend narrative craft with research insight, offering audiences new ways to think about protocols, coordination, creativity, and the stories that shape our world.
Whether the setting is literary, technical, or interdisciplinary, my goal is the same: to make complexity feel human, and to make ideas feel alive
Workshops
I lead hands-on workshops for writers, researchers, and teams who want to strengthen their creative thinking and narrative clarity. These sessions combine discussion, generative exercises, and guided exploration, giving participants the tools to articulate their ideas more deeply and imaginatively.
I’ve taught workshops in both literary and technical contexts—from fiction craft intensives to sessions on storytelling for innovation, futures thinking, and worldbuilding.
In-House Writing Cohort
Modeled on the long-form programs I’ve run for Protocolized and other creative communities, I design and facilitate ongoing writing groups for organizations and teams. These cohorts meet regularly over weeks or months, creating a dependable, well-structured space for shared discussion, new writing, and creative development.
Each cohort is customized to the group’s goals—whether that’s producing new work, exploring a theme, supporting emerging voices, or cultivating a stronger creative culture within your organization.
